Fume Hoods

aht has been providing fume hood testing services for over 20 years. All testing is performed by trained field personnel and with current calibrated equipment.

After on site testing is performed, field personnel will explain to our clients all our findings and notify them of any issues requiring attention before leaving the site. Each tested fume hood will have a label affixed to it, indicating make, serial #, face velocity, date of testing, and sash arrows indicating where the sash should be positioned for safe use.

Our clients are provided with a detailed technical report that explains testing methods and how the testing results of your fume hood compare to current standards.

Fume Hoods are a primary engineering control used in chemical laboratories to provide personnel protection from chemical exposure.  The Canadian Standards Association states that fume hoods should be tested annually to ensure the fume hood is providing the necessary containment.

Some of these tests include:

  • Face Velocity
  • Duct Traverse
  • ASHRAE 110 Containment Testing
  • Smoke Patterns
  • Damper Operation
  • Baffle Operation
  • Sash Operation
  • Motor/Fan Inspection
  • Electrical Safety
  • Lighting
  • Noise Levels
  • Chemicals Used
